The Hip Hop community took a huge loss yesterday when Mark Morales, better known as Prince Markie Dee of the legendary Fat Boys, has passed away. The Brooklyn native was 52 years old.

As one of the pioneering Puerto Rican rappers in the culture, Markie Dee, along with Koll Rock Ski and the late “Human Beat Box” Darren “Buffy” Robinson, were among the first Hip Hop acts to receive mainstream success and toured alongside artists like LL Cool J, Run-D.M.C., Whodini and The Beastie Boys.

The cause of Morales’ death is unknown at the time of this report.

The Boys, who were originally known as The Disco 3, were also among the first Hip Hop artists to appear on the silver screen, appearing as themselves in the 1985 cult classic Krush Groove and the comedic Disorderlies with legendary actor Ralph Bellamy.

TheSource.com sends condolences to Morales family and friends.
