THE search for Breasia Terrell tragically came to an end on March 31, after officials in Iowa found her remains.
Davenport Police Department announced the remains found on March 22 near DeWitt, Iowa were that of Terrellâs.

Who was Breasia Terrell?
10-year-old Terrell was last seen in July 2020, when she was reported missing.
An Amber Alert was quickly issued shortly after her disappearance, however, it was cancelled in January 2021 because of the length of time that had passed.
Aishia Lankford, Terrellâs mother, got off of work the night of July 9, 2020, when she saw her 10-year-old daughter called her.
Lankford told TV6 around 9:13pm on July 9, her daughter had texted ââGood night, mommy. I love you.ââ

âAnd I had texted her back and I told her âgood night, I love you too,ââ Lankford told the outlet.
It was the last time she had contact with her 10-year-old daughter, who was reported missing the morning of July 10.
Terrell was 4â5 inches tall, weighed 75 pounds, had black hair and brown eyes.

Has she been found?
In a press conference on March 31, officials with the Davenport Police Department announced the remains found near DeWitt on March 22 were Terrellâs.
âThis news is heartbreaking to both Breasiaâs family and our Davenport community,â Police Chief Paul Sikorski said through tears during a press conference.
âOur deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers are with all of those who are affected by this tragic loss.
âAs this case turns from a missing child to a homicide investigation, we know our community is anxious for information regarding the investigation and any charges that may be forthcoming,â he continued.
âI can assure our community that investigators are working diligently to bring justice on Breasiaâs half.

âAgain, they have been nonstop for the last 9 months. I want to assure our community that when we are able to share details on this investigation we will,â Sikorski added.
In December, Chief Sikorski told TV6 the case remained active and open.
âAnything and everything is important,â Sikorski said at the time.
âAnd I really want to make that push for our community to please, no lead is too small. We need to find her. Thatâs the bottom line.â
Police in Davenport confirmed that her remains were discovered by two fishermen in a pond near a rural area.
On July 9, Terrell spent the night with her step-brother Detorious, whose father is Henry Earl Dinkins, 48, a convicted sex-offender.
Police named Dinkins as a person of interest in her disappearance He was arrested on unrelated sex offender registration violations.
âThey know he knows something but heâs not talking,â Terrellâs uncle DeMarcus Lankford told KCCI. âThatâs basically all we hear.â

The FBI had announced their involvement in the case and offered a $10,000 reward for information that led to locating Terrell or the arrest of someone who was involved in her disappearance.
âThe loss of Breasia will create a ripple effect of trauma throughout our entire community,â Nicole Cisne Durbin â President and CEO of Family Resources â said during the press conference.
âOur entire community will feel this tragic loss. We want our community to know you donât have to deal with this loss alone.â
